Training in
Veterinary Medicine

University fees are scheduled to double in the UK and student loans will be subject to higher interest rates. It remains significantly cheaper to study abroad, particularly for those considering a veterinary degree who are also applying as postgraduates. Tuition fees at the UK vet schools approximate to around £75,000, whilst the cost of studying in Kosice is up to four times cheaper. The living costs in Kosice are also four times cheaper. The curriculum affords six months studying and travelling abroad in Europe, and six months of each year is spent back in the UK (partially seeing practice). The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine course spans only four years and provides automatic membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. This in turn, means that graduates immediately qualify to work as veterinary surgeons in the UK.

The Kosice vet school was EAEVE approve in 1996 and 2002 and FVE approved in 2003. Following an English prima facie case (in 1994) graduates from all vet schools in EU accession countries now qualify for MRCVS.

In summary, studying in Kosice is significantly cheaper, provides unique European travel opportunities, removes a year from typical study time, and entitles graduates to MRCVS.
